The Lord Jesus Is Found in the Temple of His Church
The Lord Jesus “grew and became strong” (Luke 2:40); He “increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52). As His body grew and developed, His mind also increased in knowledge and understanding. For as our brother in the flesh, that we might “have redemption through His blood” (Ephesians 1:7), He lived by faith in the Word of His Father. Thus, He was catechized by His parents, who took Him up “to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover” (Luke 2:41); when He was of age, He gave attention to the Holy Scriptures in His Father’s house (Luke 2:46, 49). Christ Jesus is still found in His Church, in “the word of truth, the Gospel,” by which we are adopted by His Father and sealed with His Spirit (Ephesians 1:5, 13). Thus do we gain “an understanding mind” to go about our vocations, discerning “between good and evil” (1 Kings 3:9). And so do we also go up to Jerusalem, to stand “before the ark of the covenant of the Lord” (1 Kings 3:15), that is, in the Holy Communion of His body and blood.

Life Thoughts In The Church Year: God used Joseph, who adopted Jesus as his own son (Luke 2:41), to care for our Lord as He (Jesus) mysteriously lived a perfectly human life as our substitute. Through Jesus, God has now adopted us as His own children and has promised us an eternal inheritance in His kingdom (Ephesians 1:5, 11). Christians should be encouraged to likewise consider and promote adoption as a godly way to preserve and care for the lives of God’s precious children and bring them into His kingdom.
The flowers on the altar are given to the glory of God by Howard and Mary Styron in honor of their wedding anniversary. We wish Howard and Mary God’s richest blessings.
Altar Flowers: If you would like to place flowers on the altar for an Anniversary, Birthday, Memorial or other special occasion, please remember to sign up on the “Flower Chart.” Please sign your name and the special occasion. The cost is $75.00 for both arrangements. It is permissible to have more than one person sign up for a Sunday and split the cost. You can also call the office at 580 353-0556 and Sandra will sign you up. We have a new florist and the results are very noticeable thanks to Scotts House of Flowers. Please make note that if you sign up for flowers they will be seasonal flowers unless you have a special request you have to let Betty Aliff or Sandra know a WEEK IN ADVANCE. The cost will remain $75.00. If you have any questions, you can always call the church and talk to Sandra. Stop by Scotts and let them know how beautiful the arrangements are. ** Please note the flower chart has changed locations. It is on the cork board across from the door it was on. Also we have put a box next to the flower chart with envelopes marked “FLOWERS” when you sign up for flowers please take an envelope, put your payment in the envelope and you can drop it in the offering plate.

Installation of church officers will take place next weekend, January 10 & 11, 2026 during our worship services.
Please note for security reasons if you come into the church from the north door or the kitchen and there are people in the office please make them feel safe and announce yourself.
Announcements! In order to ensure that announcements are included in the weekly bulletin please have them into the office by Thursday at 1 p.m. Click below to submit an announcement. We want to help you get the word out. Our office hours are Monday – Friday 9 a.m. till 3 p.m. with an hour lunch from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS: Please join us for Sunday School from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Whether your child is new to St. John or has been attending for years, we offer a nurturing environment where they can explore God's Word in age-appropriate ways. Our dedicated teachers are passionate about helping children understand Biblical truths and apply them to everyday life. We can't wait to grow together in faith!

2026 OFFERING ENVELOPES: Your 2026 offering envelopes will be in your church mailbox the last week of December. We are very thankful to each person and family for your financial support to the church. May the Lord continue to bless you as you make giving a part of worshiping God. Contributions are recorded by offering envelope number. Please do not use your 2026 envelopes prior to January 1 since your number may not be the same as your 2025 number. If you currently are not assigned envelopes and wish to have your contributions recorded during 2025, please see Deb Simmons, Financial Secretary.
Security. Due to ongoing security issues, we are forced to make security changes for entrance into the church and within the church. The main entrance to the church will be through the entrance doors from the parking lot. The kitchen door will only be opened by the inside push bar. Please ensure if you open any doors to the outside, the door is locked back when shutting. Also, if you open a door and prop it open, someone needs to visibly see the door. Come enjoy an evening of canvas painting at A Pigment of Your Imagination on the 13th of January at 6:00 PM. The cost is $30, which you will pay upon arrival. Women’s Bible Study - Step into the world of Psalms as we read and discuss Everlasting by Christina Hergenrader. We meet each Wednesday in the LWML room at two different times: 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The cost of the book is $17 and can be purchased at Bible Study. Hope to see you there!
Bible Study resumes and renews on Wednesday, January 7, at 11:00! Join us as we explore the 61st Psalm together. All ladies are welcome!
The Hat & Mitten Tree is up in the foyer as LWML will be collecting warm clothing items for the needy such as stocking caps, gloves, sweatshirts, sweatpants, scarves, blankets, socks and underwear. We will be collecting items now through the end of January. Items will be distributed to the needy in our community.

If you are looking for a way to serve the church? We need help with the altar duties. The sign-up sheet is on the table in front of the Bible Study Room.
There are many ways that we are able to serve the Lord. One way is to serve as either an usher or a greeter. It takes just a moment of your time, but means so much to our members. Thank you to all who signed up to be a greeter. All months have been filled. There is however, still a need for ushers. Sign up today and take an active part in this ministry here at St. John.
Please don’t forget, we are always collecting pull tabs and aluminum cans. The funds from our efforts aid various outreach programs.
